For Residence for International Students go to:

(1) Applications for residence at International House and University House (students only) are solicited twice each year (for April and October residence) through notifications to each laboratory in August and December sent via each department office. Individuals who seek residence are to consult with their academic advisor and submit the application documents to their department office by the specified deadline. Individuals scheduled to enter the university who seek residence are to consult with their expected academic advisor and submit their application via their expected academic advisor.
Applications for residence are not accepted at any other time of year.
(2) The number of applicants for residence at International House and University House (students only) has been increasing each year along with the increase in the number of international students at Tohoku University, so some applicants may not be accommodated.
‘Sumuraku Plan’ for International Students of Tohoku University

If you want to use ‘Sumuraku Plan’, you need to apply E type in Comprehensive Insurance For Students Lives Coupled with “Gakkensai.”
In case you have enrolled in A type or others, you must change to E type. It takes 2 months to make procedure about it, so please come by the Student Support section, 3rd floor of Center Hall in Aobayama East Campus.
International Student General Housing Insurance and Tohoku University International Students Support Association's Housing Rent Joint Surety Program
The International Student General Housing Insurance and Tohoku University International Student Support Association’s Housing Rent Joint Surety Program have stopped accepting new applications as of December 31st, 2024.
International students currently using the Housing Joint Guarantor System can continue to renew it until the completion of their current course as of December 31st, 2024.
The application forms and premium payment form may be obtained at the 国際交流係 International Affairs Section of the Academic Affairs Division.
