To start the 2014 academic year, the Tohoku University entrance ceremony gathered 4976 students among which, 2558 have admitted to the undergraduate level and 2418 to the graduate one.

 

Alone, the School of Engineering welcomed 1686 students that correspond to 1/3 of the entire University. 896 of these students will undertake a bachelor degree while the remaining 790 ones will either pursue a master degree (680) or a PhD degree (110). During the orientation session that has been held at the Tohoku University Centennial Hall, the speakers vigorously emphasized the necessity for the new students to improve their English speaking abilities. Fortunately, the anxiety triggered by the genuine advices and the importance of the event could be eased by the bright and energetic performance of the cheering squad of the Tohoku University.
