Notice to prevent the re-spread of COVID-19 To the students of School of Engineering

~ Let’s have a fruitful campus activity while taking thorough measures to prevent COVID-19 infection and taking good care of your physical condition ~

The COVID-19 continues to spread in Japan. Due to its extremely strong spreadability, increases in various activities in society, and traveling to and from parents’ homes and other regions, it is assumed that a certain number of people will be infected in the School of Engineering.

Tohoku University has set the "Tohoku University Emergency Action Plan (BCP) for Preventing Spread of COVID-19" at Level 1. The School of Engineering is continuing the efforts to restore the education and research activities, especially for undergraduate lectures in class and laboratory/exercise, with an emphasis on face-to-face teaching. We will continue to expand face-to-face classes while closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and will also consider the use of online classes for effective learning in the post-COVID-19 period.

Students are asked to observe their health conditions carefully, contact the call center or other appropriate authorities as described below in the event of symptoms, and not to enter the campus in the event of fever or other symptoms.

For a safe and enjoyable campus life during the ongoing infection, we ask you to continue preventative measures, such as avoiding the "Three Cs" (Closed spaces, Crowded places, Close-contact settings) and wearing masks, in addition to protecting yourself from infection, you are also asked to take thorough actions to prevent others from being infected. Contact with others for long hours, such as at eating or karaoke with many people, at home, or in a car traveling long distances, is particularly high-risk behavior. Regardless of whether you have been vaccinated or not, there is still a risk of infection even among students in daily with each other.

If any of the following applies to you regarding the COVID-19, you are required to report the necessary information by accessing the "Reporting Form for COVID-19 Infection, School of Engineering" according to the guidelines on suspected contact with infected persons and contact information when feeling unwell. Early reporting is very important to prevent the spread of infection, so we ask for your cooperation. Also, please do not forget to report to the academic supervisor of your department/faculty.

● Reporting is required in the following cases.
  • You have contracted the COVID-19 infection (PCR test is positive).
  • You were certified by the public health center as a close contact person.
  • Your roommate has contracted a new type of coronavirus infection (PCR tests, etc., are positive).
  • You had contact with an infected person outside the campus that meets the definition of a "Person who is suspected to be a close contact ".
