Department of Materials Science
Students in the Department of Materials Science come to understand fundamentals such as the mechanisms behind material properties and learn how to apply these to electronic, magnetic, and energy conversion devices, toward development of functional materials and device technologies for the next generation.
Specific research themes include development of spintronics materials for advanced information processing, and of high-performance permanent magnets, battery materials, and heat-resistant materials used in energy conversion, focusing on the physical and chemical properties of future materials.
